The Basic Body Course is an intensive class involving extensive hands-on work. You learn the four basic movements of MLD®. The basic strokes and their application to each of 9 body parts is taught over 5 days. You will use these movements in routines effective in treating all parts of the body. Be prepared to practice and study. A thorough introduction to MLD® theory will be presented covering anatomy and physiology of the lymph vessel system, connective tissue, effects of MLD and contraindications. Edemas are described. Those who attend the Basic course are prepared for the Therapy I course (2nd of the four courses for full certification as a Dr. Vodder Manual Lymph Drainage Therapist). (For Detailed Course Syllabus Click Here.) This is a Dr Vodder School International course. (Practical 32 hrs., Theory 8 hrs.) (More details about DVSI) Manual Lymph Drainage is a gentle, non-invasive manual technique that has a powerful effect on the body. Research in Australia, Europe and North America has proven its efficacy as a stand-alone treatment and in combination with other therapies. This technique was developed in France in 1932 by Emil and Estrid Vodder. MLD® has grown to be the most effective manual technique to assist lymph flow and aid in drainage of the tissues, rejuvenate the dermis, and relieve stress and tension. In Europe, MLD is a procedure recognized by national health insurance plans. In Germany, it is now the 3rd most prescribed physical therapy technique. MLD® is a systematic series of precise movements that stimulates an increase in the normal functioning of the Lymphatic System. This promotes healthy connective tissue, enhances the body's immune response, relieves pain, and sedates the sympathetic nervous system. Thus it promotes the body’s healing ability in many diverse applications, for example: sports injuries, scar tissue, pre and post operative care, as well as chronic inflammatory conditions, such as acne and rosacea.
