Purchases & Payments [ TOP ]
I accept payment by credit card online or check by mail. Please access the product/course descriptions page on the website, or call 510-849-1388, or email me (GayLee@VodderMLD.com). Materials and courses are shipped to student or downloaded only after payment in full is received.
How do the online courses work? [ TOP ]
When you enroll, all of your materials are included in your tuition as well as one Certificate of Accomplishment and course advisory support during your studies. You have the option of accessing all of the materials through an online account, or I can ship the written materials and the test to you (at additional cost). You always have the option of taking the test online - or submitting an answer sheet online. If you choose the online option you will have immediate access to your class materials and test. Upon completion of the online test you will get your results instantly and you can generate and print your certificate immediately. If you do not choose to complete your courses online you will need to mail or fax back your test information and we will then email your completion certificate to you.
What are the Home Study Course test questions like? [ TOP ]
The test is multiple choice and is "open book".
Do your courses come with a video? [ TOP ]
My programs are text / illustration based. The acclaimed Topic Cards form the backbone of the Home Study course.
How long do I have to complete the course? [ TOP ]
I recommend that you complete the course within one month from the date of enrollment.
What if I I won't be able to finish the course in several months? [ TOP ]
Please call me and let me know that you will not be able to complete the course within the year.
After completion of a course will you send the certificate to the organization I need the credits for? [ TOP ]
I send the certificate straight to you. This way I avoid any confusion and you will have a master copy for your files. Also, state boards and sponsoring organizations that require continuing education credits typically require that you complete a form and you do not need to submit a certificate at the time of renewal. You will need to keep your certificate, as stated in your organizations' rules, in the case of an audit. Never give the original certificate away!
How do you determine how long it takes to finish the course; who determines the credit hours for a course? [ TOP ]
When I develop a course it is determined how long it will take, on average, for a student to read through the materials carefully, as well as take the test. It is then submitted to the NCBTMB. Please keep in mind that it may take some students longer to finish a course and others will finish it in less time than indicated by the continuing education credit hours allowed.
Do I have to go somewhere to take the test? [ TOP ]
The multiple choice test is included with your course. So you can take it at home on paper or at any computer, at your own pace.
How can I enroll in a course? [ TOP ]
You can enroll here on my website, or by fax at 510-558-8363 or by phone at 510-849-1388. I prefer to accept your enrollment entered online at www.voddermld.com/b/. Of course, I am available by phone message weekdays. I just need to ask you a few questions and will process your order right away. You will need an email address and a credit card.
How long will it take to complete the course? [ TOP ]
The Continuing Education hours that are designated to each program are an approximate idea of how long it will take you to complete the course. Keep in mind that for some people it may take longer to complete than the hours shown, but for others it might take less time.
Certificates
CE Credit [ TOP ]
Students must complete the course and pass the examination (75%) to receive CE course credit and CE units and a Certificate of Accomplishment.
What type of Continuing Education Certificate is included with my tuition? [ TOP ]
When you complete any of my home study continuing education courses, you will receive a Certificate of Achievement, at no extra charge.
What information is shown on the Certificate of Achievement? [ TOP ]
This Certificate includes your name, title, the course identification, the instructor, that the course is based on distance learning or home study, and the number of CEs. (You can find the CE Hours, or credits, indicated within each course description on this web site.)
Does the NCBTMB, state boards and other sponsoring organizations accept these Certificates as evidencing my having earned CE credits? [ TOP ]
The Certificate of Achievement is prepared in accordance with the regulations and guidelines of the state boards and the NCBTMB, AMTA and ABMP, in full satisfaction of their stated requirements at the time you completed your CE program. State Boards may have additional requirements that you will have to meet to gain acceptance off the CEs.
What professional organizations will accept these Certificates? [ TOP ]
My CE programs are based on the needs of massage therapy professionals continuing education requirements and to help enhance their skills. Other professions may accept these credits, however, you need to contact your board or sponsoring organization for more information.
Why does it cost extra for a printed certificate? [ TOP ]
I endeavor to keep the tuition low for massage therapists' continuing education needs. Additional un-needed certificates could be a waste of paper and time and would require raising tuition in order to cover the cost. Therefore, a printed certificate after the one electronic certificate is available at an additional cost only for those rare instances when a massage therapist would need one. Generally, it is my understanding, that many sponsoring organizations don't require certificates be provided when renewing. If they are requested, a photocopy of the certificate made out to the state board is usually sufficient.
Remember, some states do not have any massage practice regulations but a student may belong to the NCBTMB, therefore they would only need one certificate. Also, students do not need to renew their National Certification as often as the state license, therefore they typically only require one certificate.
For those that don't have the minimum qualifications you require, what does thecertificate say? [ TOP ]
The certificate is similar in look, however it states "this documentation does not certify the competency or qualifications of the course participant". I do this to protect the integrity of massage therapists as fully trained professionals as well as to protect massage clients. Those that are licensed and have the required minimum number of training hours will not have this language on their certificate.
CE Transcripts Availability [ TOP ]
Your personal record of courses attended, or completed is available to you upon your written request via email, and will be returned via email. Transcripts for transmittal to third parties, will be charged an appropriate fee. Replacement Certificates of Completion if records are currently available, and sealed transcripts on paper cost $25.00 for each item.
Additional Terms of Sale for All Courses
Exam Results And Security / Privacy Concerns [ TOP ]
Unless you tell me in advance, results and Certificates of Completion or Accomplishment will be sent electronically and you must print them yourself. Your examination reports or other individual information will be sent back to the sending Fax number or email as submitted by you. If you do NOT want exam results or any other information sent to the originating email address (or FAX number) due to privacy concerns you MUST TELL ME IN ADVANCE. I am only too happy to use your requested method of communication.
Payments Accepted [ Top ]
I accept payment by all major credit cards, check, cashier's check. All fees are due prior to the start of the class or download. If any payments have not cleared by the bank prior to course completion, the Certificate of Completion or Accomplishment and course CE credits will be withheld until payments are cleared.
Inside the US: Checks, money orders or credit card numbers with expiration dates should be sent to the clinic class sponsor. Those registering from outside the United States to download courses can pay by credit card, international cashierŐs check or international money order in US funds made out to the me. Bank returned payments (incl. credit card charges) are subject to a reasonable $25.00 handling fee for each occurrence, as such events incur bank fees, bookkeeping time, correspondence, and phone to address the situation. Clinic courses may also have alternate terms that apply.
Enrollment Requires Deposit [ Top ]
Your enrollment in a class is not confirmed until the full deposit or Home Study fee is received and cleared. Entry to a class is ranked by the date when the payment is cleared by the bank. Receipts are sent by email only. Host school or clinic may have alternate terms that apply.
Enrollment Confirmation Letters For On-Site Classes [ Top ]
Confirmation letters will be sent when the deposit has been cleared and will include as appropriate:
what to bring (if applicable), preparation tips, requested study before the course (if applicable), access key to the enrolled student web portal, directions and lodging info (if applicable). This normally is sent by email.
Host school may have alternate or additional procedures that apply.
Pre-Class Preparation [ Top ]
The classes I teach are fulfilling and rewarding especially if students follow the pre-class preparations provided on my website only to enrolled students. The recommended preparation information and portal access key (password) is provided to all enrolled students as soon as I am given the student email. Please utilize the attractive preparation options available online. If you have any questions, please call me, thatŐs what I am are here for!
Class Refund / Attendance Policy [ Top ]
For on-site classes, if a student cancels in writing, received at least 30 days prior to the class start date a full refund will be sent within 30 days. If a written cancellation request is received after the 30 day cancellation period, the published deposit amount will be kept by the school. If the student is a no-show in class without an explanation before the start of class, no refund at all will be made. An exception to forfeit of class fee/deposit will be considered based on proven medical necessity.
A student who attends any portion of a class is considered to have an obligation to pay for the class in full. However, there are exceptions. If a student enrolls in the wrong course, or an inappropriate course, and notifies me within 24 hours of enrollment, a replacement course or refund will be made available. Students are considered actively enrolled in a course until they complete the course including any examination or post-test, for 12 months. Clinic courses may have alternate terms that apply.
Class Interrupted - Make-Up Dates [ Top ]
If a student must leave a short portion of a class, make-up attendance at a future course of the same type is sometimes available by pre-arrangement (on a space available basis, without additional tuition), within 12 months. This policy is negotiable, and site or sponsor concerns may affect the practicality of such arrangements. No guarantee is possible. The entire class must be repeated after 12 months interruption to earn the CEs. Clinic courses may have other terms that apply.
Retaking A Completed Class (Reaudit) [ Top ]
Reauditing students may attend a course of the same name/content, at one-half (50%) of the current class instructional fee but only by pre-arrangement, on a space available basis. If new/replacement course materials are required, they will charged for accordingly in addition to the reaudit class instructional fee. No new or duplicate Certificate of Completion (or CE credit) will be issued. However, a form letter will be provided (if requested before class starts) indicating the course attendance dates / location / hours / and subject matter, if the entire course is attended. Clinic courses may have other terms that apply.
Observation Of Classes [ Top ]
My classes may be available for short observation by pre-arrangement for an approved purpose. Observation periods are limited to lecture / demonstration sessions, for a maximum total of 2 hours. Observers may not participate in the lectures, and will not receive student handouts or course credit. Observers are not allowed to observe or participate in the practical (lab) training sessions.
Host school or clinic staff is also subject to these limits.
Official Transcripts - CE Students [ Top ]
My classes are logged under each student name, and sealed official transcripts are available for a fee. Contact me for details and fee schedule (typically $25.00). Clinic courses may have other recordkeeping terms that apply.
State / Local Licensing CE Completion Forms - Additional Documents [ Top ]
Students are asked to inform me well in advance if a licensing agency Continuing Education record (CE) form will be needed, and to provide the forms or documents to meet the licensing requirement for documentation of CE credit. I will always attempt to provide assistance. with these forms. Students are asked to complete all forms fully, then FAX, email, or mail the form for my signature before the class. If the licensing agency requires a sealed official transcript, this must be requested at the same time (expect to pay a transcript fee). If complex or customized submissions are required, I will require additional time and compensation to fulfill such requirements. Also see OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS policy above.
Class Cancellation Or Rescheduling, Disclaimer [ Top ]
At times a class may be cancelled for lack of enrollment or other unavoidable conditions. Every effort will be made to reschedule a class at a convenient time for those who have confirmed registration, including the same or an alternate location. Classes are cancelled or rescheduled 30 days before the scheduled date unless late occurring events intervene.
I cannot be responsible for any loses incurred by registrants resulting from canceled or postponed classes. I recommend that registrants secure travel insurance, especially if travelling from outside the United States. Clinic courses may have other policies and procedures that apply.
Courses Terms And Conditions [ TOP ]
The courses available for Home Study, are owned and operated by me, for professional massage therapists' information and education. Use of a course is subject to the listed terms and conditions ("FAQs" and "Terms and Conditions") and all applicable laws. By purchasing a course, you accept, without limitation or qualification, these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree with any of the Terms and Conditions, do not purchase the course. I reserve the right, in my sole discretion, to modify, alter or update these FAQs and Terms and Conditions at any time and you agree to be bound by such modifications, alterations or updates.
Cancellation And Refund Policy [ TOP ]
I actively seek to create learning environments that fully foster the success of those that use my materials. Barriers to learning are by design eliminated from my course offerings. One known barrier to learning is the operation of refund policies and guarantees. Both are often seen by students as exit strategies that may be exercised in lieu of completing a course. Thus, the possibility of a refund can and often does reduce student drive and the level of effort to successfully complete a course. My basic refund policy is therefore - no refunds.
However, there are exceptions. If a student enrolls in the wrong course, or an inappropriate course, and notifies me within 24 hours of enrollment, a replacement course or refund may be made available. Second, students are encouraged to continue with their studies until they succeed. Students are considered actively enrolled in a course until they complete the course.
General Privacy Policy [ TOP ]
Your privacy is important to me. I collect no personal information about you when you visit my Web site unless you choose to make such information available to me.
When you visit my Web site, my server automatically recognizes only the Internet domain and IP address from which you accessed my site. This information does not result in the identification of your personal e-mail address or other personal information.
In addition, I monitor the volume of access to my site by collecting information on the date, time and pages accessed by visitors. I do this so that we can improve the content of the Web site, and this information is not shared with other organizations. Again, only aggregate information is collected, and individual visitors' personal information is not identified.
If you choose to share personal information with me - by sending a message or filling out an electronic form with personal information – or enrolling in a class - I will use the information only for the purposes you authorized. I will not disclose the information to third parties or government agencies, unless required to do so by state or federal law.
My server maintains a record of all registrations logged into my available download requests or courses. This monitoring is designed to assist in improving my courses. I use these records to determine who has downloaded the information, and to send announcements of new classes or services. I will report your onsite course completions to an individual or school for their records, only upon your emailed request. I will not in any way release your personal information to third parties or government agencies unless required to do so by law.
